Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer and Reflection for 2.24.12

to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Acts 26:18

Pray
Father I pray for those who are blinded by pain, fear, and rage. I pray for those who are so consumed with what’s going wrong with and in their lives that they can’t seem to appreciate all that is great and wondrous in their lives. I pray that You strengthen them that they might be strong enough to fight the grip of the enemy, so that they can begin to forgive themselves and forgive others.

Father fill me with the strength and vision to see past trespasses against me, so that I can spend my time sharing Your loving light with those who need it most. Father I appreciate all that You have done for me and all that You provide. I pray that Your children grow to see their cup overflowing and never empty or less than ideal. I pray for this wisdom also, even in days that appear cloudy, let me always remember that after those days the clouds always move away to allow the sun to shine brightly.

Your son Jesus shared and shares so much, he gave and sacrificed the greatest of things to prove to us the nothingness of pain, fear, sickness, disease, and death. This existence isn’t our end, but merely our beginning; we should all be striving for what’s next to come in Your Kingdom. So mold us Father so that we can be best prepared for eternal life beyond this limited existence. Help us to become better followers, servants, and ambassadors Father. In Your name and in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Reflection
Pray for discernment to always recognize God’s ways, presence, and voice in your life. One way to tell the difference between God and the enemy, mortal mind, is that God never guides you to a place that could immediately or ultimately harm you or a loved one. That is the work of the enemy. Even sugar-coated, the enemy’s plan is never to benefit you. If the vision is self-consuming, self-absorbed, and truly only about you and your personal gain and pleasure, then that can’t be God’s influence upon you.

Let me put things bluntly so that we’re on the same page.

Cheating on your significant other or spouse emotionally, mentally, or sexually is not of God. That is satan. Marrying for money, prestige, influence, and/or power is not of God. That is satan. Cheating on your taxes to get a larger return, or to prevent having to pay, is not of God. That is satan. Providing false testimony and bearing false witness is not of God. That is satan.

Verbally, mentally, emotionally, sexually, and/or physically abusing someone is not of God. That is satan. Knowingly living beyond your means, buying things you know you can’t afford now or years later, is not of God. That is satan. Not paying employees fair wages and providing a dignified benefits package is not of God. That is satan. Laziness is not of God. That is satan. Whining and complaining is not of God. That is satan. Living in fear and pain is not of God. That is satan!

That is the enemy working against you so that you can turn from God. I prefer to not give the enemy a name, for to give it a name gives it a sense of purpose and power. So calling it “it” or the “enemy” rebukes any influence that it would claim to have in my life. In the examples above I used the name “satan” (lowercase) to help you connect on a more sensitive and passionate level with the intensity and desperation that “it” has to mentally sway and get you to destroy yourself (for it lacks the power to do so).

Understand that it is all mental, not physical, and not spiritually. The attack is mental. The attack is through your thoughts. Whether thoughts of lust, anger, revenge, or fear, it is all coming to and attacking your mind. Which if not protected, can be penetrated. No different than giving up the power and allowing someone to hypnotize you. You leave your mind totally exposed to be manipulated. That is what “it” does. Those thoughts can turn a healthy person into a person consumed by fear of sickness, and eventually consumed by illness; consumed by a fear of death, and eventually deceased.

We must fight to protect and nurture our mind so that it is always aligned with God’s Mind. So when we have thoughts of lust for someone not our spouse or significant other (or if single, lust for someone you know you shouldn’t deal with), you must rebuke it and understand you are being attacked. When we have thoughts to curse at someone, we must realize immediately that our mind is under attack, for God would never place profanity in our hearts or minds. The same is true when we think of physically or emotionally hurting someone, we are being attacked by a dark presence that wants to be our puppet master.

That initial hesitation to not do something is God touching you and reminding you that you have the power to say no to “it”, and instead walk upright with Jesus. God gives us all the choice to choose eternal life with Him or limited existence in pain with “it”. Each second of the day we must make decisions about whether to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so that we can be with our Father God, or to follow “it” who we know is our enemy, and merely exist…and to do so in misery and despair.

What choice will you make?

Have you shared your walk with others? Not just with believers, but also with non-believers and conditional believers? Conditional believers are those who believe when it serves their needs.

Have you shared these daily messages with others? Have you subscribed to this blog so that you have access to more than three years of messages on various topics and issues that affect us all, or do you pop in and out whenever the mood hits you? Ask yourself why you don’t want the full access, and why you don’t want to open your inbox to God’s Word? Would you rather see this daily message or an email about some juicy gossip someone just had to share with you, a scam to rob you and others of your life savings, or some other spam that’s taking up good space?

Take the first step towards committing to your personal fight against the enemy. Fill your mind and space with God’s light and push out the darkness moment by moment, each and every day.

Lovingly your sister in Christ,

Natasha
