Natasha’s Daily Scripture, Prayer, and Reflection for 7.18.19

Scripture

For I command you today to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.

Deuteronomy 30:16 WEB

Reflection

God always shows us and protects us. We must take that step forward and never look back, in doubt. We must learn to obey—yes, always—even when we don’t understand. This is our continued struggle. But we are designed to succeed.

I can be hard-headed. More times than I want to admit, I find myself saying, “uugh why didn’t I just listen and obey?” Yet, I’m comforted in knowing that God loves me even in my hard-headedness. When I “fall”, it is humbling, because I clearly forgot how hard that “ground” is—I mean, why would I subject myself to such pain if I remembered how awful it is? Why do I expect a different outcome?

As the saying goes, “…lessons are repeated until they are learned, and then we’re given a new lesson….” I’m currently repeating some lessons. I feel stupid, but hey, until I get this right, I will be like that album that keeps skipping on the record player. I’m praying for realignment, to rise above my current circumstances, and to thrive—not just survive.

Some of us feel like we’re living in our washer machine, on the agitate or spin cycle. It’s a rough time. We just have to remind ourselves that, at some point, the washer machine will stop. We will be removed. We will unfold, unwrinkle, and be given another chance to have a new experience. God was never not there. He was present before, during, and after our washer machine experience. Try to look at the positive takeaways from that experience.

Right now, just like me, you may be struggling with something, or a bunch of somethings. What part of the cycle are you in?

Is the water just pouring in? Are you in the wash cycle? Or has the water started to drain out? Maybe you’re starting or halfway in the rinse cycle. Or, is it that second draining cycle after the rinse? If you’re in the spin cycle, just hold on family—it’s almost over! Hmmm or maybe you are in that weird stage, where the machine has stopped and you’re just there, not sure what to do next. Don’t worry. Ask God, and He will tell you, the lid or door will be opened and you will be removed.

Don’t get ahead of yourself. Don’t start stressing over whether you will be air-dryed on a line, rack, or table. Don’t freak out dreading the heat of the dryer. Just be present, and know that you will be well cared for, and you will soon have more opportunities than you could ever imagine.

It may be an odd way of looking at your life and circumstances, but sometimes those visuals can help you to see the hope that you almost walked away from. Grab ahold and don’t let go. God isn’t letting go of you! He is with you before, during, and after each of those cycles. Hold on!

Prayer

Father, I am trying. You know this. You know my heart. Thank You for loving and nurturing me as I struggle with getting out of my own way, and living as You command. I love You. I need You. Always. Amen.

Love always,

Natasha
