Breaking Bread For 4.1.20

Scripture

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging….

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psalm 46:1-3,6-7

Reflection

We have seen earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, avalanches, and storms of all kind on land and on water destroy man, other creatures, land and property. Through it all life continues to move forward. Through it all God is there—our constant—our source—our guide— our Father.

Lives have been lost. Some close and dear to us; and some we only see on TV and in newspapers and magazines. But just like the mountains that crumble and rebuild over time, people will stand up and rebuild their lives and honor those who have passed— sometimes too soon for our comprehension. And God will always be there pointing out the way and reassuring us that through our experiences and in our renewed strength we grow closer to Him.

Times change, seasons change, buildings change, land mass changes, the ocean and seas change, and our life changes; but one thing that will always be the same that we can always count on is God. He is always faithful and dependable. How amazing is that!

Prayer

Father, You are a constant presence in my life, in the world, in this universe and beyond. You created the first speck of dirt, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and every organism big and small. Our land has shifted, erupted, crumbled, and been rebuilt more times than we could ever imagine. Our earth lives as we do— growing, changing, healing, and fighting off attacks from pollutants. We too are constantly growing, changing, healing, and fighting off attacks from pollutants—toxic people and toxic substances.

With all that we have seen, experienced, and lived through it has only been because of You Lord and I thank You. Through life and so-called death we have evolved and strengthened. Life is not complete without our acceptance of and total obedience to You. I love You Father and thank You for all that You have blessed me with. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Love,

Natasha
